How do I know if orthodontic care is right for me?

The best way to discover if one of our smile correction treatments is right for you is to stop by our office for your free consultation. Just give us a call at one of our three locations or fill out the form on our contact page to schedule a one-on-one meeting with Dr. Grussmark. He’ll show you our in-office technology, answer your questions, and evaluate your oral health to determine if orthodontic care is a good fit for you.

What if I have serious alignment issues?

We have the right combination of services to treat almost any type of orthodontic issue using Invisalign, traditional metal braces, or some combination of orthodontic procedures.

Even if you’ve been told your case is too extreme for orthodontic care, please speak with Dr. Grussmark. He has a treatment plan to fix your smile.

What if one of my brackets or wires breaks?

Give us a call right away if a bracket slips off your tooth or a wire becomes loose. We’ll schedule an emergency appointment so we can reattach the loose implement, allowing you to return to your busy schedule as soon as possible.

Can I play sports with braces on?

Yes, you can. This is a very popular question, especially among our teenage patients. We understand that sports is an important activity that provides a number of positive benefits to our patients. Of course, it’s also important that you don’t damage your orthodontic treatment.

Fortunately, Dr. Grussmark offers custom mouthguards for athletes to protect your braces and your smile. This is particularly important for people who are involved in high-intensity sports like football, lacrosse, skateboarding, and basketball.

How long does orthodontic treatment take?

This will depend on the nature of your individual treatment plan. During your free consultation, Dr. Grussmark will evaluate your condition, explore your treatment options, and provide an estimate on how long your treatment may take.

Which foods do I need to avoid with braces?

In general, it’s best to stay away from foods that are crunchy, sticky, or difficult to chew. Some examples include chips, popcorn, nuts, chewy candy, gum, steak or beef jerky, and corn on the cob.

How do I keep my braces clean?

In addition to avoiding certain foods, you can keep your braces clean by brushing and flossing gently around them every night. If you play sports, we also recommend that you use a protective mouthguard.

What’s the best age to begin orthodontic treatment?

The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation no later than age seven. This is earlier than most parents would expect, but getting your child the right orthodontic care at an early age can prevent them from developing serious issues down the line.

Don’t despair if you haven’t sought orthodontic care in the past. There’s no reason why you can’t begin orthodontic treatment as an adult.
